Boo at the Zoo

When it comes to family-friendly activities here in Santa Barbara you cannot go wrong with a stop by the Santa Barbara Zoo. This local attraction is a wonderful time with exotic animals in viewable habitats. While the Santa Barbara Zoo may not be the biggest zoo in the state it offers plenty of fun inside. Around Halloween, the Santa Barbara Zoo will transfer into Boo at the Zoo for a special three-night event. Boo at the Zoo transforms the Santa Barbara Zoo into a mini Halloween festival that includes the Boo Choo Choo train rides, Creepy Crawly Encounters, Goblin Games, and Spooky Storytelling. Guests will also be able to provide their children with some early trick or treating along the Trick or Treat Trail. Guests are encouraged to come in their best Halloween costumes and enjoy this special event. Boo at the Zoo will take place from Sunday, October 16th through Tuesday, October 18th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM each day.

Trick or Treat - Downtown Santa Barbara

For kids, the one thing they always look forward to year after year for Halloween is taking in as much candy as possible for trick or treating. Just because you are coming to visit Santa Barbara for Halloween does not mean they will be missing out on the giant candy collection. Make sure to take the little ones out on Saturday, October 29th for the Trick or Treating with Downtown Santa Barbara's merchants. Local businesses will be handing out candy to little ones in their best costumes. The event will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM ensuring your kids have a safe trick-or-treating experience while there is still daylight out. The fun is not just for the kids! Trick or Treating in Downtown Santa Barbara will also have plenty of other exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. Costume contests will let everyone dressed up try to win the big prize! All of Downtown Santa Barbara will be decorated with spooky decor. Ghost tours will take you along the streets as a tour guide discusses some of the reported hauntings in the area. After-hour events at local watering holes let you enjoy some Halloween-themed drinks and fun. The fun will be going on all day here in Downtown Santa Barbara so don't miss out on this event!

Thriller at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens

Whenever you think of Halloween the song "Thriller" might come to mind with its hauntingly good beat. Individuals of all ages consider this to be the true Halloween song of the season so learning its incredibly fun dance moves is a must. You can do just that on Saturday, October 29th at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. Specifically, World Dance for Humanity will be hosting a Thriller dance lesson at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens at 1:00 PM. The event starts with a costume dance party with plenty of Halloween-themed tunes to move with. At 2:00 PM the Thriller performance will begin where a giant crowd will take to the gardens and perform the incredible dance moves. Locals will be able to practice before the event starting on September 21st at Oak Park Stage in town. Visitors will be able to join in on the lessons virtually so you do not show up a few dance moves behind. All proceeds of the event will go to charity. Come show off your best Thriller dance moves!

Santa Barbara Zombie Bar Crawl

Halloween in Santa Barbara is just as exciting for adults so join this year's Halloween Santa Barbara Zombie Bar Crawl taking place in the downtown neighborhood. Institution Ale Company sponsors this ghoulish event where participants will be given drink discounts at over 10 bars in downtown Santa Barbara. The event will take place on October 29th and is for adults only.
