Rental Property in Santa Barbara of Epic Proportions

The Whale House is designed by architect and original homeowner Michael Carmichael with the property being designed after renowned architect Antonio Gaudi. As the name suggests this property is designed after a majestic whale that can be seen the moment you arrive at the home. The Whale House exterior features a layered shingled design that resembles a whale on the outside. The property is four stories high with layers of river rock, Venetian plaster, wood columns, and 270 Belgian stained glass windows. The property is surrounded by a fantasy-inspired courtyard complete with a 75-foot lap pool that flows into the detached Guest House that is a whale's tail. Walk around this luscious sanctuary and find shady oak trees, luminescent lighting, and even an outdoor shower. You will feel like you have been transported into your favorite fantasy novel.

Vibrant Interior

The interior of The Whale House is just as majestic as the exterior. Guests will step up into this second floor from the courtyard. Walls made of river rock and Venetian plaster come to life with rolling walls and narrow corridors that lead you around the property. As you slowly come to your senses you can find your way back to the gourmet kitchen that features vertical natural wood beams to create unique cabinetry. The natural tile and granite countertops provide plenty of space to prepare your meal. The overhead lighting is wrapped in vines and the stove is surrounded by mosaic tile and river rock. The ovens are brand new and provide plenty of room to cook your meal. A formal dining area is found off to the side with room for your party. There is also additional seating outside in the courtyard where you can enjoy your meal in the serene ambiance of the outdoors. A formal living room can be found just around the corner from the kitchen with a custom semicircle sofa that overlooks the gas fireplace located in the river rock wall. Each room is connected in a complete circle for you to easily access.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The third floor of The Whale House is made up of the master suite that is completely spacious and luxurious. A plush king-size bed awaits you along with a high-top table that resembles a personal tree house where you can complete any work you brought with you. The master bathroom features a vibrant red tile shower and a jetted spa tub to help you relax. A sitting area can be enjoyed that overlooks the courtyard outback. Continue on up to the fourth floor of The Whale House where you can find a smaller suite with a queen-size bed and twin day bed. Another bathroom is located up here with a claw foot tub where you can enjoy great views through the tall windows. The guest house is where you will find the final bedroom and bathroom for The Whale House. Inside the whale's tail, you will find a modern wooden design with curved ceiling beams that mesh with the natural wood wall paneling. A plush king-size bed is also found in the bedroom. A private sitting area with a sofa and chair can be enjoyed as you watch something on the flat-screen TV.
