Fourth of July Celebration

One of the biggest celebrations that is put on by Santa Barbara each year is the Fourth of July Celebration. This patriotic event features a variety of activities that are perfect for all ages. Last year's event was canceled unfortunately due to COVID but is planning on being fully operational for summer 2021. Head over to Stearns Wharf at West Beach for an all-day event under the sun that includes live music, fun activities, and plenty of food. Local food vendors set up their stations along Cabrillo Boulevard between State and Castillo Streets, offering cuisine of all types. Vendors will be open from noon to 9:00 PM so you can expect to grab a bite whenever throughout the event. The live music lineup is family-friendly and will be playing all day from 11:00 AM up to the fireworks extravaganza. Speaking of which, the fireworks display will begin sharply at 9:00 PM and feature over 20 minutes worth of incredible displays above West Beach. The event is completely free to attend and is expecting tens of thousands of visitors to enjoy the show. Santa Barbara Rides Again

If you happen to find yourself for an extended stay here in Santa Barbara before the 4th of July holiday, make sure to take advantage of the Santa Barbara Rides Again event. This event is a five-day carnival that is full of exciting rides and games that all ages can enjoy. Expect over 30 different rides that will have you spinning and twisting all over the place for fun and excitement. The adults can have a blast too and cool off with some ice-cold beer at the outdoor beer garden. You will find your family creating brand new memories that will be cherished for years to come. Santa Barbara Rides Again will be taking place June 23rd through the 27th at the Earl Warren Showgrounds. The event is open that Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to midnight, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Admission into the event is free so make sure to bring the whole family!

Hit the Beach

While these may be the only events happening around the 4th of July in Santa Barbara, there is still plenty to enjoy around town. One of the biggest draws of Santa Barbara is our beautiful beaches. The weather around the 4th of July is typically in the mid-80s, giving you plenty of reasons to cool off by the beach. Many of our beaches feature plenty of sand and are more touristy in nature. Expect to see locals hanging out by the water or kayaking down the shore. Other beaches Shoreline Park and Arroyo Burro County Beach Park are better for sightseeing. You can take the many bike lanes around the beaches and see all kinds of beautiful views.

Hit the Boardwalks

Another great way to cool off by the water is by returning to Stearns Wharf after the 4th of July events have ended. This popular boardwalk features several piers and all kinds of shopping and dining establishments. Stearns Wharf also happens to be the oldest wooden wharf that is still operational in the country. You can't find that everyday anywhere else!

Santa Barbara also has plenty to see with local attractions that are fully open this summer. Stop by the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History to see interactive exhibits including animatronic dinosaurs. The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum offers a historical look into the maritime history of the city. Finally, make sure to check out the beautiful architecture and gardens located at the Santa Barbara Court House, the city's number one attraction for visitors.
