Whether you are looking for some incredible nature to explore or you want to find fun events and festivals, Santa Barbara is a great place to visit. The community here always makes for an interesting one to visit, especially as Halloween approaches. Endless costume parties, trick or treating opportunities, and celebrations dot this calendar, so there are plenty of fun things to do for this Santa Barbara Halloween.
Visit the Pumpkin Patch this Santa Barbara Halloween
Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch is the most charming pumpkin patch in the area. It is the perfect place to find the perfect pumpkin or to simply come to enjoy the scenery with a nice hot cider. You will find opportunities to take hay rides, traverse the fun corn maze, and to enjoy the petting zoo. You can take advantage any day of the week leading up to Halloween in October. Find it at 5091 Hollister Ave.
Meow-lloween at Cat Therapy
You will not find a fright here, but rather a fun time. The main event here are the adorable and cuddly friends that call this place home. Hang out with these cats amidst charming Halloween decorations as you enjoy snacks, hot spiced cider and more. Take advantage of one of the cat yoga classes that blend the rejuvenation of yoga with fun of hanging out with adorable kittens and cats. Find it on Halloween day at 1213 State St., and don’t forget your costume!
Murder Mystery Dinner
This night of fun and spooky mystery provides a great way to celebrate Halloween. This night blends an incredible 4-course meal with the excitement of discovering who the culprit is within the room. You will be transported back to the 1920s and living the like the Great Gatsby. Between tender pork loins and mushroom gravy, you must find the murderer in your midst before the night is through!

Vacationing over any holiday can be daring proposition. It’s difficult to miss out on the traditional holiday celebrations you have at home, but it’s also possible that you will discover new traditions that are even more exciting and fun than what you have been doing—you never know until you try. And while Halloween isn’t like Christmas or Thanksgiving, your children will let you know if you mess up this spooky celebration; and if you are honest with yourself, you will be a little miffed yourself if you miss out on the chance to score some primo Halloween treats! If you’re planning on being in Santa Barbara Halloween weekend, however, you should have no fears. We excel in spooky celebrations of all kinds!
Trick or Treating
Let’s face it, Halloween is about the candy, and if you’re visiting the area for the first time, you are probably reluctant to let your children trick or treat in neighborhoods where the people are not known to you. Fortunately, there are a couple of options available to you that allow your kids to dress up in costumes and collect their treats safely. On Friday, October 28th, nearby Carpinteria is offering Downtown Safe Trick or Treating from 3:30 to 5:00, and then on Halloween night, Santa Barbara sponsors its own Downtown Trick or Treat from 3:00- 6:00, so let your ghouls and goblins dress up in their scariest costumes and spend the evening filling up their goodie bags safely.
Our second favorite Halloween activity involves scaring the socks off ourselves, and what better way to do that than a tour of a real haunted house? There’s no fake blood made out of ketchup or peeled grapes meant to signify eyeballs in the Santa Barbara Mission. With over 5000 former church members buried behind the church, you never know who you will encounter; but never fear—they are all friendly ghosts!
