Comfortably Chic on the Riviera

Jacaranda trees highlight this classic Santa Barbara home on a quiet cul-de-sac high above the red tile roofs of the city. Designed by renowned developer and architect Alex D'Alfonso and newly restored, this home was originally constructed in 1930’s and is a perfect slice of Santa Barbara charm and history. The owners have kept its original Spanish Colonial Revival style, while adding up to date amenities throughout the home.
The Living Room features original art and photography of a bygone era, and a hand-crafted tiled fireplace pays homage to the Santa Barbara Mission. A new flat screen TV sits above the fireplace. Curl up on one of the sofas and take in the ocean and city views. Through the curved archway is the Dining Room, which seats six and has French doors leading to the back patio. Guests will love the option of indoor or outdoor dining. There is even a lovely dining area on the front terrace, with a view of the city to go with a cup of coffee in the morning.
The Kitchen is smartly appointed, and features all new stainless steel appliances and Carrara marble countertops. Filled with light, the Kitchen also has a breakfast area with seating for four that is perfectly tucked in the window to enjoy the warm sunshine streaming in.
The Master Bedroom has a king-size bed with an antique Spanish Colonial headboard. The room is decorated with simple sophistication to capitalize on the ocean and city views. A television and comfy Monterey chair are also found here. The newly remodeled Hall Bathroom services the Master and the second Bedroom. A spacious walk-in shower and a lovely old fashioned tub come together in a mix of vintage and modern.
Two other Bedrooms are bright and airy, one with a queen-size bed and en suite Bathroom, and the other with a queen alongside a bunk bed with a queen/twin combination. As with the rest of this home, the Bedrooms have a touch of Spanish flair in the decor.
The terraced backyard offers a partially covered, Santa Barbara stone patio, grassy lawn area, and ocean views from the upper yard. Flanking the property is a stone wall covered by a huge, old trumpet vine that dates back to the origins of the home in the 1930’s. Entertaining or enjoying meals outside will be a must!
With an ideal location near the Santa Barbara County Bowl, there are numerous local “hang-outs” nearby to enjoy a tasty treat before the concert. “La Super Rica” (frequented by beloved local, Julia Child), offers what many consider to be California's finest, authentic Mexican food. The elegant El Encanto Hotel is the perfect place to enjoy a sunset sip of champagne or a meal. Both are a mere 5 minutes away.
Settle into a more relaxed pace on the Riviera; sit back and enjoy living as the locals do at this delightful and restful retreat for all seasons.
